Clone tool repeating over & over after the first click!

HI,

I'm on CS5 Extended, and my clone tool has stopped working properly.  It is repeating itself over & over again after the first click.  For instance, I am trying to move a family over to the left a little bit.  The clone tool works as it should for just the first click.  After I release my curser and pick-up where I left off, the clone tool jumps back and repeats the initial source - so if I stop cloning at the face and click again, it is not remembering where it left off.  I am of course under a deadline - Adobe tech support took my computer over and could not fix the issue either - we reset everything.  He is saying that my computer is too new for CS5, so I would like to avoid the unintall/reinstall process if possible.

    In the Option bar, make sure "Aligned" is checked.

    Yes, Aligned Sample up top is checked with current layer

    It is not possible not to include current. It is possible not to letup on the mouse button till you are fished cloneing  with what  wase there in the first place not use any merged changed content.

    Till you let go it like painting onto a  top new layer as soon as you let go the new layer is merged down and you start painting on a new layer that will be merged down.

    That is why I always start be adding a new empty layer and use current and below.   It will create a new layer  which will contain all the merged down strokes however the original layers remain untouched.

    Thank you for the response and trying to help.  I tried creating a new layer first but it's still doing the same thing.  I've used the clone tool with this photoshop version for the past few years now, and have never had this issue or have had to add any new layers.  I'm wondering if there's another button or something that was accidentally checked?
