Clone tool repeating over & over after the first click!

HI,

I'm on CS5 Extended, and my clone tool has stopped working properly.  It is repeating itself over & over again after the first click.  For instance, I am trying to move a family over to the left a little bit.  The clone tool works as it should for just the first click.  After I release my curser and pick-up where I left off, the clone tool jumps back and repeats the initial source - so if I stop cloning at the face and click again, it is not remembering where it left off.  I am of course under a deadline - Adobe tech support took my computer over and could not fix the issue either - we reset everything.  He is saying that my computer is too new for CS5, so I would like to avoid the unintall/reinstall process if possible.

    In the Option bar, make sure "Aligned" is checked.

    Yes, Aligned Sample up top is checked with current layer

    Thank you for the response and trying to help.  I tried creating a new layer first but it's still doing the same thing.  I've used the clone tool with this photoshop version for the past few years now, and have never had this issue or have had to add any new layers.  I'm wondering if there's another button or something that was accidentally checked?


    It alwas will if you use more than one continious brush use. The Options are "urrent"y,  "Current and below", and "all Layers".  Thers is no Below layers only.  Whatever  is in the current layers wiil be cloned.

    Here is Curent and below where current is empty till I let go of the mouse buttom. Arround and around I went without letting up thogh the image was building up and beeing displayed during my single brush use there was no content in the top layer till I let go of the moune button and the paint was merged down into the empty top layer so the is no loner empty.  Till that time there  was no actual content in the top layer tha could be cloned with.
