Sometimes when I'm working in Photoshop, the min/max/restore buttons disappear. I didn't tell it to do that. Is there a way to prevent it from happening?

Thanks, Jane.

Do you know if there is a way to disable the F-key feature? I never want to use it.

By @scotwllm

Hi Scott,

Go to Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts and select Tools from the popup. Click the "F" and delete it to remove the shortcut. Save the customized keyboard shortcuts and close.

Thanks, Jane, but the article is about Microsoft products such as Excel and Word. However, while the menu items don't match exactly, I had not thought about looking in the View menu for a solution to the problem. That still leaves the question of why did they disappear and is there a way to prevent it from happening.

Hi @scotwllm

I don't use Windows, but try the "F" shortcut to toggle the three screen modes. I checked on my Mac and the three buttons disappear in "Full Screen Mode With Menu Bar".

Thanks, Jane. That might be the answer. I could have tapped the F key unintentionally, or I could have tapped it intentionally, but for another window, not realizing Photoshop still had focus. Multiple monitors can be great, but they can be confusing sometimes, too.

Do you know if there is a way to disable the F-key feature? I never want to use it.

Hi Scott,

It's early morning here and I'm on my iPad. You should be able to remove the shortcuts in Edit > Keyboard Shortcuts. If you can't find it in this dialog, I'll look for the exact location in a short while.

Perfect. Thanks, Jane! One of the unexpected side effects is seeing the long list of Photoshop features I've never heard of before. Mind blown... LOL.
