Color dynamics in brush settings

I was trying to make a scatter using 2 colors only.  I had  one color in the foreground and the other one in the background.  No  matter where I set the brush setting,  I could not get a scatter with only those 2 colors.  If you can help me with that, please also link me to a page with all brush settings help.

There will always be a fade between the 2 colors and Semaphoric gave you one of the ways to fix that.

If you don't want the "In between" colors in JJ's example, you could follow your painting with Image > Adjustments > Posterize, with Levels set to 2:
