Hi , need help. I bought new Mac 27" the display is great. I calibrated with Spyder 4 Pro . Saved in I-Mac Photo. Updated all in printer Epson Stylus pro 3880. Loaded profiles for papers.  My problems with new Mac? printer? PS?  colors of prints are dull, not all papers profiles are showing , anytime I need to print it set auto to one profile

which drives me crazy. I'm not big pro in printing settings and  this one box: "printer profile" is my problem. Thanks

Ok

Now I'm home after so many hours on computer. I had a printer loaded on old Mac -14 years old 27" desktop. The computer was on the last leg, getting hot and slow so I bought new Mac 2 mo ego. I had no idea I will have a problem with any programs when I reloaded all my back up to new machine. First I noticed my PS files do not open and it is still the problem. I had a help from Aple "pro" on screen

she did "help" me to erase some softwares and files I was afraid to do by myself. It became total dissaster! I reloded backup from old computer back.

Now with printing: I was looking for help all over: Adobe, Apple, Epson. As I said my profiles disapeared, in profiles was "Display"

Finaly Epson in printer window said : your software needs to be updated.( why it took so long to get this message???) I went to Epson and it said you need to update from Apple store. Apple store: no such a thing!

Solution was so simple. Remove printer and reload it again. The  old files from back up from old computer didn't work! Now I have all my profiles, colors are good.

The Q is now: should I remove old PS, Lightroom softwares and reload it again? Is this not opening pics PS problem or Apple problem? Have no problem with opening JPG files. They open right away. It is annoying to click on each file to see what is on...

The first screenshot is absolutely wrong and a strict no-no. You never "use" your monitor profile for anything. The calibrator sets it up at system level, and that's all. Done. Applications find it there and use it without any intervention from you.

Printer profile should be the one corresponding to the paper you're using. You need to set this every time, because it's a printer/paper/ink-specific profile. There is no generic setting here. However, it should then stick for this particular file, until you change it to print on a different paper.
