color picker not working

After updating Photoshop, the color picker is not working. When I try to select a color from the screen all I get is white. I have tried on multiple layers. I have reset All Tools, nothing is resolving the problem. Any answers?

    You may need to reset your preferences but, before you do that, a  question.

    You do have the layer selected in the layers panel and not a mask ?

    I have reset my preferences with no luck, and as I stated, I have selected multiple layers and not masks. In addition the “Sample” choice is set to “All Layers”. Still no luck. Any ideas?

    Since you said "update", I wonder if it went wrong. You can go into the CC app, move your mouse to the left of the Open button where you will see a Gear drop-down menu and the Uninstall option.

    If there are no custom items you're using, Uninstall and Clean.

    Restart your PC and reinstall.
