color table empty in Save for Web

I make animated gifs on a very frequent basis, and just recently this week i've started experiencing issues. I was saving a gif in Save for Web, and I clicked on the preview button, like I always do, to make sure it looks right. But when I did, it looked like this:

so, I went back and double checked that I had done everything right–and I had. But in Save for Web, the color table, which is usually full of the hues of the gif I've created, was entirely empty and greyed out. I've looked for solutions online already and I've come up empty. Can anyone help me with this?
