Colors changes to grey when I try to use color for brush tool

Hey there, I've been experimenting with some new ideas for my graphic designs but in the middle of my work I've encontoured a problem in which I've been trying to use the brush tool for the threshold I've had on my layer and it didn't let me use any sort of color that wasn't in a grey texture.

This is the original image but I've cut out my layer from.

I've opened the layer in a new file.

And yes my Image Mode was set on RGB Color 

This is how the design looked after using threshold.

 

And this is how the design looked after trying to put red color on it.

What can I do to fix this?

Hi @Daniel278071203fq6 please share a full screen shot of your workspace include the layers panel expanded so I can see how you are applying the red color to your threshold image.
