Question

Colour change when dragging an image from one file to another in Photoshop

I took a photo (nef file + adobe profile) into Lightroom (image A)

I created an image (Tiff file) to be composited with it in Photoshop. (image B)

If I 'edit in photoshop' image A from Lightroom, open image B in photoshop and then either drag the A layer onto B or drag the B layer onto A, the image which is dragged changes colour. There is a message that the images have different bit depths.

On the other hand, if I 'edit in Photoshop' image A and then 'place embedded' image B, there is no colour change.

Is there a simple explanation?

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
