Hello I am trying to copy images from from photoshop to illustrator but when copy them into illustrator the colours become muted. I've made the colour space and colour profiles the same in both applications but i am still having the same issue. Is there something I am missing?

Please help.

Have you gone into Bridge 2023  Edit > Color Settings and synchronized the color settings?

This is what you should see.  If there is no improvement, then there are experts that will join in and they will likely see what I've missed.

Also what I might have missed is that Adobe RGB 1998 is the suitable print conversion space between RGB and CMYK. sRGB is for Web design. It would clip CMYK. You can change the working space to Adobe RGB and see if that helps.

Looking at the Profiles list, you would want a Prepress Color setting, not a General color setting. Hope that helps.

This happens when the document does not have an embedded color profile.

As long as it has, this embedded profile will override application color settings.

Yes, but does the file actually have an embedded profile?

Yes it does. The colours are correct when I export the unfinished project but I don't understand why the colour is wrong in illustrator but right in photosop?

OK, just needed to be certain. I remember one similar case a few weeks ago, where it boiled down to a GPU bug in Illustrator. The smoking gun was that while the image and color picker was wrong, color sampling patches were actually correct and in agreement with Photoshop.

The problem with GPU bugs in Mac, of course, is there isn't much you can do except wait for a MacOS update. In Windows you can roll back the driver or even swap the card itself. In the meantime you can turn off the GPU in Illustrator.
