Commands for Scribble Artist Action "Not Available"

New Here ,
Apr 25, 2024 Apr 25, 2024

I downloaded and successfully used the Scribble Artist Action on some photos about two weeks ago. I haven't touched Photoshop since - left everything open. I'm sitting down to continue the project and now I'm getting several commands within the action that are "not available" -- Delete, Make, Smooth & Stroke. I am no expert on PS but I can muddle my way around in it, and I've been very careful to follow the directions to a T. I've searched this issue and the posts I found (not specific to this action) were about a decade old, and not surprisingly, didn't work. I suspect there's a setting somewhere that needs to be changed but I have zero clue which one/s. It's weird bc I haven't touched PS since the trial run, which worked perfectly.

Could you please post screenshots at the points of failure with all the pertinent Panels (Toolbar, Layers, Actions, Channels, Paths, Options Bar, …) visible and the Action fully expanded

When action steps become unavailable, it's usually because the step does not work on the type of layer you have selected, or it requires a selection first, etc. When you post the screenshots requested by C.P., we may be able to help you troubleshoot the action.

If »Stroke« refers to »Stroke Path« for example that would depend on a Path and if the Path is created via »Make Work Path« the result would depend on the Selection and how that was created.

An Action may perform as intended on one image and simply not work out on another, depending on the images’ contents, dimensions etc.

In addition to what C.P. said about stroking a path, going to Edit menu > Stroke requires a selection. That's why we need screenshots!
