I have had my hard drive replaced on my Lenovo laptop and my laptop is nearly eight years old. Will I be able to use the latest edition of Photoshop or Elements?

You didn't say if you already have a subscription or are contemplating getting one. You might also check the requirements for the earlier versions:

https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/system-requirements/earlier-versions.html

If you replace your computer later to one that runs the current version, you can sign in with your Adobe ID on the new computer. Your subscription allows one user to run PS on two computers, but not at the same time.

I used to subscribe but all of a sudden after several updates it didn’t work anymore. I probably should not have updated the software.

"I have had my hard drive replaced on my Lenovo laptop and my laptop is nearly eight years old. Will I be able to use the latest edition of Photoshop...?"

Hi @lyndat65157491

When you have an older setup, it won't always run newer software. Since Photoshop stopped working for you before and the only change you have made since is to install a new hard drive, the answer to the question you asked is that you most likely will not be able to use the latest edition of Photoshop.

Your computer has to meet or exceed the system requirements.

The age of the hard drive and the age of the computer are not the issue. What matters is what the laptop can do, including the amount of memory (RAM) and hard disk space, the graphics card, and the operating system version. You need to get in the habit of checking the system requirements of each app you want to use.

Hi

You may run into issues with the Geforce GPU as the most recent versions of Photoshop recommend a GPU with 4GB of VRAM, also the fact that the GPU is 8 years old Photoshop may not recognise it.

Another thing you haven't mentioned is what CPU you have and what the clock speed is, which can affect the performance of Photoshop.

As for Photoshop Elements I can't comment on that as I don't use it.

Hi, I suggest you take a look at these two pages, where I found the necessary system requirements for Photoshop and Elements:
