Constrain Aspect Ratio as default

I'm using Photoshop 23.1.1. When I restart the program, the Image Size > Constrain Aspect Ratio chainlink is repeatedly reset to broken, so that changes to width are independent from changes to height (and v.v.).

Is there a setting that will make the default be linked, rather than broken?

Correct answer Myra Ferguson

What happens if you set it to linked without changing anything else and click OK? The next time you open Image Size, does it appear linked?

Hey, @PHIL345340060ib7. Welcome to the Photoshop Community. I'll help you figure this out.

Before we get into troubleshooting, please update Photoshop v23.1.1 to v25.3.1 via the Creative Cloud desktop app.

You can press & hold the ALT/OPT key when you're in the Image > Image Size window & the cancel button should switch to 'RESET', once you reset, click on the link again & click on 'OK' to save the changes & the menu should go to its 'Linked' status when you open it next time.

Let me know how it goes. Thanks!

I have updated to 25.3.1, and attempted your suggested solution. Alas, the Reset option turns the link to Unlinked. I tried it with the link set to on, and with it set to off -- both attempts set it to off.

It does.
