I fixed it by reinstalling a second time but to version 20.0.09

hope that works for you.

My content aware tool is not working. If I have a selection and select content aware it fills it with white instead of the background.

the 2019 Photoshop has a new content aware tool... this defaults to make a new layer and is not the same as the old content aware tool (still an option if you want to keep using it)

About half the time I try to do Content Aware Fill I get a big error box saying something like “it is not in this version of Ps, Error 52”.  Who the heck writes your error codes? I close and re-open Ps, so far that has saved me.   I print-screened the error and tried to paste it into a new Ps doc- and paste don’t work neither, but it works in Word.  Not cool guys.  I work on deadline, you can’t take things away or break things that used to work.  I use Content Aware Fill constantly, it worked before the upgrade.

And you took away Cntrl+Z, what the heck were you thinking?

Now I’m back to not trusting Adobe on upgrades. Grrrrrrrrrrr

Here’s a tip Adobe- Google each of your error codes and re-write them with the explanation you find in Google, save us the step, ‘cause that’s what we do... I think you must have hired arms control treaty writing lawyers to write them.  They really are horrible.

Okay, I deinstalled Ps and reinstalled the latest version last night.  The new Content Aware Fill shows up, and worked well on panoramas.  It’s a very nice upgrade, although it takes longer to do.

This morning I needed to expand a canvas with it.  I can’t figure out how to get to it when using the crop tool to expand a canvas, and when I try to do it the old way I get this error (and print screen does not work when it happens- to capture it I had to use a camera).

Come on guys, it’s not cool to break things and sell it as an upgrade.  I’ve got work to do and can’t bill for stuff like this.

I am having the same issue, mine isn't related to content aware crop that I know of, but when you right click in a selection select fill then content aware fill. might be the same for the crop as well.  was working before last update.  Not to do with layer selection, have checked that.

I believe you are referring to Content-Aware in the Options Bar of the Crop tool.

Click on the gear in the Crop tool Options bar. If you have chosen Use Classic Mode, the Content-Aware feature will not be available. Click its checkmark to turn it off.

Do you mean Content Aware Crop?  The tool that fills the corners when cropping?

If so, then have you got the image layer selected when cropping.

If you are not sure, then paste your entire workspace to this thread withe layers panel visible.

Ctrl Print Scrn and paste here with Ctrl v
