Content Aware Spot Healing Brush affects brightness - new issue

This feature used to work very recently (within the past month).  Currently, if I try to use the Spot Healing Brush, and choose Content Aware, it blatantly brightens the healed area.  It is unusable like this.

Happens in both Elements 2024 and PS (24.6.0)

If you look closely, the 'healed' area is pretty great, spots or scratch gone. But the brightness is altered. It did not use to do this.

Maybe I have something set wrong?  (I already reset my brushes).

Before and after photos attached.

Please help.

The Adobe messaging support person's answer was to just use the Clone tool, with no suggestions, or inquiry on what computer OS or software OS I was running.

I haven't encountered any issues with Photoshop 25.7.0 Release and cannot replicate the aforementioned result. Remember, you have the option to alter the blending mode for the Spot Healing Brush; make sure it's set to "Normal".

Thank you.  Blending mode is set to normal.  (it's small in my posted video, but it is visible.).

I'm not seeing that here on a 2022 Mac Studio running macOS Sonoma 14.4.1 with Photoshop Elements 2024 or Photoshop 2024 (ps ver 25.7).

What version of macOS are you using?

I would suggest resetting the Photoshop Elements 2024 preferences by going to Adobe Photoshop Elements 2024 Editor>Settings (Preferences)>General, clicking Reset Preferences on next launch and then restarting the photoshop elements editor.

Ok looks like the Photoshop Elements 2024.2 update is causing the Spot Healing Brush Tool issue.

I should preface this by saying there have been several other issues/bugs reported with the pse 2024.2 update on both Mac and Windows, so this is another to add to the list.

Anyhow, at least on a 2008 Intel Mac Pro running macOS Monterey 12.7.4 with pse 2024 i replicated your issue, which i could not on the 2022 Apple Silicon Mac Studio.

Pse 2024 on the Mac Pro had been updated to the 2024.2 update.

So i removed that version and installed the base pse 2024 version without the update and the Spot Healing Brush worked

fine.

As far as Photoshop, maybe the pse 2024.2 update somehow affected that.

Since you have photoshop 2023 (ps ver 24.6) you might try updating to 2023 (ps ver 24.7.3) or photoshop 2024 (ps ver 25.7)

What year and model Mac do you have?

Here's the page listing the Photoshop elements 2024 update:

you can check and see if your pse 2024 has been updated.

I also tested the updated pse 2024.2 version on a Windows 10 machine and could not replicate the issue.
