Convert Actions (ATN) to text file

Googling I saw it used to be possible to convert actions (ATN files) to text

It seems I add to select the action then hold opt+md on my Mac and in the Actions button I would receive a message telling me SAVE AS with text option

Is this still available and if not any ways to do it?

It does not seem save as text is available in Adobe Photoshop Version: 20.0.7 20191017.r.87 2019/010/17: 1208010 x64 running on Windows 10. Does it ?

I don't know of a way to convert the .txt action set save into an action. I don't believe that this would be easy to do. I don't believe that the save as .txt option was intended to edit/convert back to an .atn file.

I don't know of a way to convert the .json action set save into an action. I would guess that this would be easier to do if the .json contained all of the required code. I have not explored this in any detail and it would be nice if somebody with advanced scripting knowledge could comment. I am not sure why the .json option was added, this came later.

Otherwise, I'd look at xtools 2.3 from xbytor if you wish to save/edit/convert an action through a text editor:

I think xbytor provided a tool to convert atn-files to xml.

xtools
