Convert to Linked should keep its promise

When importing a sequence of images, by dragging those to the canvas, Ps places these embedded. When choosing 'Convert to Linked' it

a. asks for the location (while it should now the origin of the images, since those are dragged in a second before

b. makes copies in the pointed folder, instead of linking to the already existing images

Very confusing, and a pain in some workflows - when having to replace the images, or when overwriting those with e.g. a new render from an animation app.

There's a hidden shortcut for placing as Linked files that Adobe refuses to bring to the surface... hold opt/alt while dropping in your files. Or you can just use File/Place Linked.

Also, the process of Convert to Linked is working as intended. Not all SOs are created from placed files, so there's always a need to resave as a new file.

You seem to confuse 

• Relink to File 

and 

• Convert to Linked

I think you're making some very unrealistic assumptions.

And why would you want to clutter up your storage with copies? Heavens no, please. The whole point of a linked file is to avoid copies.

I don't see any other way this could work.
