Converting a vector to CMYK

I copied and pasted a vector from Illustrator to Photoshop, rasterised it, and switched the colour mode back and forth trying to get Photoshop to convert it to CMYK. However, it still exports as an RGB often. Basically the "Convert to CMYK" has no effect on the image export, hm. What am I missing here?

Thanks

@Swandive stream most export methods are meant for Web images hence the RGB format. If you need to maintain your CMYK color - save as, not export.

If you need to do this again, choose Undo instead of switching back and forth, which is destructive.
