Copy' Paste Polygonal Lasso Tool Line?

At the moment, I'm nearly wrapped up, but I have two of one given image, with the only difference being a color scale, so I was wondering, is it possible to create a selection using the poly' lasso tool, copy the outline using simple commands, like kewords, and apply it to a different image? I should note, I do not mean copy & paste a "cutout" I would just want the completed line itself, so I can cut out a selection of exact propotions again on another layer.

I've tryed tinkering with other processes, like the curvature pen tool, pen, curvature pen, and so on, while I believe some work paths can be saved and added again using these tools - which is great - I would prefer to go about using the poly tool, since I deem it the most efficent at creating multiple straight edges. Just need to know whether or not my question is attenable.

    It sounds like you might be over thinking it.  It would be easy to fill the selection on a new layer, copy the selected area to a new layer, and drag to the other image document.  Then Ctrl click the layer in the second document and you have the selection.

     

    Or, if you want to make it a bit more complicated, make the selection into a workpath by clicking on the icon at the bottom of the Paths panel.   

    Note: This only works if the selection has no feathering.

     

    Ctrl click the path to make its points active, and use Ctrl C to copy the path.

    Note: The ability to copy a workpath is not documented AFAIK, and is not available in the right click list, but it does work.

     

    Go to the other document window, and click on the icon to make a new Path.

    Ctrl V and you have transfered the workpath.

    Ctrl click on the path to load it as a selection, and you are done.

     

    We can probably think of some more complex ways to do the same thing.

      Than you both @Trevor.Dennis & @Ged_Traynor! both sustentante responses, however a 'save work path' is I guess what I was looking for, I will say Mr. Dennis, wish PS had an actual feature for copy' pasting an outline onto another document, rather than just cutting the seletion out w/o the path.

      I was being a tiny bit facetious when I described the method using paths. We mostly like to achieve things as fast and simply as we can, so I would, every time, fill the selection in a new layer and drag or duplicate that layer to the target document.  If the target document was not available, I'd save the new document with the filled selection and load it when needed.

       

      Ctrl clicking layers, layer masks, and workpaths is nearly always the fastest way to load or retrieve a selection, and I wouldn't dream of making my life harder doing it any other way.

      @LEFT4LAZY if I understand you correctly, once you make the selection with the polygonal lasso tool you can save the selection by going to select > save selection, give it a name and you can then reload the selection from the channel drop down on another layer by going to select > load selection
