Copy + Paste produce white background

Copy and pasting images from photoshop to illustrator generates a white background around your asset. 

 

This only happens on a windows machine. Mac systems work just fine. 

 

Copying from illustrator to photoshop works just fine as well. On both windows and mac. 

 

Copying a layer from photoshop to any other programs also produces the white background on a windows system, but not a mac. I tested this by copying layer assets into a google-slides presentation. On mac, it works just fine. I can copy assets from photoshop to slides without issues and with a transparent background. 

 

On windows, it always produces the white background. I believe this is a bug, but it has been an issue for a while.

    I can confirm - I experience the same thing on my windows 11 pc. It does not happen on my macbook air.

    PS version 26.10

    AI version 29.8.1

    Hey @phil_5679 

     

    Can you share your system info as well? You can find it by going to Help > System Info, then copying and pasting it into a text file to attach here. This will help us look into it further.

    @Snootz are you copying the layer or perhaps a layer mask? I can replicate if I have the layer mask selected when I copy.

      From my testing, when copying from Photoshop 26.8.1 and pasting into Illustrator 29.7.1, white is added around objects with transparency.
      Steps to reproduce:
      1. Select All in Photoshop
      2. Edit > Copy or Copy Merged
      3. In Illustrator: Edit > Paste
