Question

Could not download "X" because of an unexpected error

Hi, I'm trying to access a file on Photoshop that I've used and updated a lot recently but have just now got an error message "Could not download "[file]" because of an unexpected error". The file then comes up with an orange error exclamation mark and when I hover over that it says "Sync conflict".

The Adobe help page suggests to reload the files on Creative Cloud desktop app and/or try to open the file in Photoshop through CC desktop, both of which I've tried but I get the same error. It isn't doing this to all my files - just the important ones!

It's possible that I had run out of (or close to) cloud storage when I first tried to open the file a couple of days ago but have since upgraded and no change. I have the latest version of Photoshop (23.3.2) and I'm on macOS Monterey 12.4 (have just updated to 12.4 to see if it would help) with a 2019 MacBook Pro.

Have also tried to download the file from my online account but not working. Can someone please help me to recover these files??

Thanks in advance

In order to troubleshoot this, my first recommendation would be to log out of Creative Cloud, restart your computer, and then log back IN to Creative Cloud. Sometimes, this is enough to get your information updated, especially if you've recently upgraded your storage.
