Crashing after using patch tool

after selecting and using patch tool it frezzes on the area i selected and i can't do any other actions as it does only to the are selected. when i press on the side to deselect it doesn't work. so i have to save and open image again in order to proceed with other actions. i am working on photoshop for windows

I have the same exact problem. Whenever I use the patch tool (and it doesn't matter if I am just on current layer or what...), then all my other tools stop working. I try to do the patchwork very last to prevent it from happening, but inevitably I see something and I really need to be able to use my other tools without having to save it to jpg and reopen, thus reducing image quality each time I do that. It's very frustrating. I read this thread and the suggestions didn't help, but I may try uninstalling and reinstalling everything unless there is another idea.

Then I'm forced to either save as a jpg and reopen to keep working, therefore losing quality, or start completely over by scratch. Very frustrating.

When Photoshop crashes, this is the first thing to do, try resetting your Photoshop preferences. Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (macOS) immediately after launching Photoshop. You will be prompted to delete the current settings. You can also reset preferences upon a quit if Photoshop is running by going into General Preferences>General>Reset on Quit.

(macOS only) Open the Preferences folder in the Library folder*, and drag the Adobe Photoshop CS Settings folder to the Trash.

This action only affects the items found in the preferences dialog box. Numerous program settings are stored in the Adobe Photoshop Preferences file, including general display options, file-saving options, performance options, cursor options, transparency options, type options, and options for plug‑ins and scratch disks. Brushes (and lots of other setting) are not affected by the above instructions for deleting preferences. You may wish to make a screen capture of the settings in the Preferences dialog to reset them prior to deleting of this file.

*To manually delete Photoshop preferences:
Quit Photoshop.
Navigate to Photoshop's Preferences folder:
macOS**: Users/[user name]/Library/Preferences/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
Windows 10: Users/[user name]/AppData/Roaming/Adobe/Adobe Photoshop [version]/Adobe Photoshop [version] Settings
**Note:The user Library folder is hidden by default on macOS. In the Finder, hold down the Option key when using the Go menu. The library will appear below the current user's home directory.
Now you can drag the entire Adobe Photoshop [Version] Settings folder to the desktop or somewhere safe for a backup of your settings

If that doesn't fix the issue:
Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop.
Still crashing?
Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Still crashing?

Well the photoshoot itself did not crashed, so the crash report did not showed up.

What i am saying is that after the latest update the patch tool got stuck, not my computer. My computer works fine. When i used tool , I mark area i want to fix, but once its done, and you click on the side of image to delect that did not work. But i can move pen anywere and press anything. And it only works on the select area but not the whole image. My computer doe not have anything to do whith it.

And my actions got deleted for some reason.

However, once i uninstalled and downloaded photoshop again, the patch tool fixed, just had to find my action and upload them back again.

I hope it will not happen again

Hi @Karolina2524576283jw I'm not seeing any submitted crash reports from you in our system. If you haven't done so already, please submit all Crash Reports along with your email address: https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/kb/submit-crash-reports.html That will help us diagnose the crash.

A system hang or freeze requiring a computer restart usually means a low level failure such as a driver (bad video card driver, etc), failing hardware (hard disk, video card, etc.) or damaged OS installation.
It may help if we could see your Photoshop System Info. Launch Photoshop, and select Help >System Info...and copy/paste the text in a reply.

No, unfortunatly it didn't helped. More over now somehow all my actions has been deleted for the photoshoop leaving me with only default ones. And i can't reset it to previous condition.

This last update is giving me a headache now. I can't work properly

Hi @Karolina2524576283jw sorry to hear this. A couple things to try...

Go to Preferences > Performance... and uncheck Multithreaded Compositing - and restart Photoshop. Does the problem persist?

Go to Preferences > Performance... click Advanced Settings... and uncheck "GPU Compositing" - then restart Photoshop. Does the problem still occur?
