Created Profile in Settings Folder is grayed out, so can't import into Camera Raw

I have created a Profile (xmp file) using Spyder Checkr Photo for my camera. It is stored in the corect place: Library: Application Support: Adobe: Camera Raw: Settings. When I use the Import Profiles & Presets command in Camera Raw, it goes directly to the correct folder and the xmp file (the created Profile) appears, but it is grayed out. So I can't import it. Am I doing something wrong? I would like to have it as an option in the Profiles listed in the drop down menus.  Thanks for any help.

So I have figured out what is going on. The Profiles actually appear as Presets, not Profiles in either the ACR or the Lightroom interface. I have been reading up on the distinction between the two, and they seem very similar. I still have the option of mulitple Profiles already part of ACR, and still need to figure out which is the best to opt for. I want the most accurate,  as I am photographing paintings. I know the viewing enviroment will ultmately be beyond my control though, for most viewers.

I am also photographing paintings and have previously used the Datacolor Spyder Checkr as a profile. Last year the .xmp file created by Spyder Checkr worked in ACR but this year only a .dcp file will work. I have writen to Datacolor but still waiting on an answer. How can you access that color profile in ACR if it is now considered a preset?
