Creating a circle that straightens into a straight line

im trying to create a design with a circle that straightens into a straight line, like this (excuse the bad drawing)

I'm wondering if there is any way to actually do this, and if so, how.

If that is a strait line you draw worse than me WOW. Its not even contiguous. Are you trying to create some kind of animation?

Yeah, didn't even consider the pen tool as I usually stick to RAW editing, but you were right, I can't draw.
