Creating a Mask and Deleting

In some tutorial mask has been created & deleted later to proceed. I cannot see anything happened to the image by doing so & this action also did not explained by the tutor as well. What is the purpose of this action? video is attached

When you delete a layer mask, you get the option of applying the mask to the layer before you remove it.

If you click Apply, then the layer mask applies the transparency to the image and removes the pixels. It would be like making a selection and deleting the selected pixels.

If you select Cancel, then nothing happens to the image or the layer mask.

If you select Delete, then the layer mask is deleted without affecting the image on the layer.
