Creating templates from existing files.

I know you can create a new size template from scratch or download an existing one, but what if you have a file of a specific size and resolution and you want to save that as a template? Aside from manually copying the settings and saving them?

    Edit the document use menu File>Save As. Use the File type pull-down select PSD. Set in your template name and set where you want to save it.   You should add in some custom layers you want in your template before using menu File>Save As.  The PSD will have the same size, resolition, color depth and color profile as your original document
