Creative Cloud Suite on iPad Pro?

Hi Guys!

I have bought a new iPad Pro, and my plan was to use my Creative Suite on this iPad instead of my Macbook Pro.

I have downloaded the apps for photoshop, but I really can't find and open my files on dropbox.

Can anyone explain the system?

This post is from April 2017. Creative Cloud now runs on the iPad and files can be accessed from DropBox. The information given was correct in 2017, but there have been changes since then and it it no longer valid. Please start a new thread. This one has been locked.

With respect..Some of these other answers seem dated....I have to say that IOS 14 is a "game chager" for anyone wth Adobe Creative Cloud and an Ipad Pro & Apple Pencil that does "Vector Illustration".  I work directly in the latest Adobe Illutrator (released last month) and Adobe Photoshop on both desktop and the Ipad Pro and it is virtually seemless. People that state it is a "blown up phone" are not utilizing the full capabilities of utilizing Adobe cloud and Illustrator (IMHO) on an Ipad Pro.  Adobe Cloud is seemless as it takes less than a minute to transfer any doc from "Desktop to Ipad Pro or back" and since illustrator is dead on the same app ...Id give it a spin. With new brushes coming it will replace Adobe Draw (being phased out)..Fresco or Photoshop for (rasterized) drawing.

My workflow:

Adobe Illustrator on Ipad Pro (with apple pencil) or Fresco and Photoshop (photoshop is minus a few features but getting close where illustrator is exactly the same and seemless!) then back on the Desktop for Animate, CC, Cinema 4D, and After Effects work. Note, you can also utilize the Ipad Pro 4gen with your monitors if desired but for me that removes the on the-go illustration. I really like adobe illustrator and working with adobe cloud. The apple pencil is truly a great "stylist option" if your willing to give it a stab.
Good Luck and Cheers!

Having Adobe Cloud on iPad pro is an issue that needs to be fixed by both Apple and Adobe. Both conmpanies seem to be taking different strategic marketing paths. Apple is not willing to risk sales of desktops and laptops and Adobe is not also ready to do full-fledged migration.

Really though...still having those issues???
I have no problems using Adobe Cloud on Ipad Pro transfer to Desktop Macbook Pro... easy peasy and illustrator is seemless. IMHO.
Let me help if I can. Thanks!

thank you for your response. so i’m i’m still not clear. To date i have worked on psd files created on my laptop using an external wacom tablet. I could of course switch from layer to layer as i was using it . The difficulty has been that the tablet i am drawing on doesn’t have the image on it. i move the pen on the blank tablet but the results are happening on my screen within the psd file. So no need for the cloud at all. So is my understanding of what you said correct that i would first have to transfer my psd to the cloud then to the ipad in order to work on it AND that once that file is on there i can only use the tools from the limited version of photoshop that can be installed on the ipad? and that actually in order to work on it it would have to be a condensed image ie no layer interaction possible. i’m sorry to sound do stupid but i just don’t understand how it works

Affinity Photo for iPad supports .psd documents and doesn’t merge layers.

Hi, i used ipad pro and really tired that adobe can't support any great software for ipad pro right now.

and i think i'll forget adobe and move into affinity. Adobe is too expensive

To use your adobe files on ipad pro you need adobe cloud to move into dekstop.

You may try Affinity Photo for ipad pro, and Affinity Designer for dekstop. It have similiar functions and ability like adobe photoshop. The plus point, Affinity offer more fair price in single buy for ipad pro also for dekstop use.

Sorry Adobe, you need to work more with your apps and reduce your price.

Been there done that. The price isn't really an issue it's just 10 bucks. But the iPad support is a huge thing for me. I use Affinity for iPad for over a month now for my professional work. And the workflow is super (it requires a really fast wifi connection because you're working from the cloud). And also the desktop version is super fast (much faster compared to photoshop). I really miss Lightroom, I don't like the mobile version, because I want to have the possibility to work without computer.

If Serif can put Affinity Photo (the photoshop competitor) onto an iPad Pro and still have all of the same features as the the Mac and Windows versions, then Adobe can do the same. And Affinity Designer is coming to the iPad Pro in the near future, so I think Adobe needs to rethink their ios apps.

Below is a list of apps developed for the iPad by Adobe

Creative Cloud is Optimized for Apple’s iPad Pro | Creative Cloud blog by Adobe

There is a compromise solution if you really do want to run the full version of Photoshop or any Mac program , but it requires not only an iPad but also a Mac either desktop or laptop. Basically a wired or Wi-Fi connection is made from the iPad to the Mac and using an app called 'Astro Pad' the iPad will serve as a remote desktop a little like a Cintiq. I don't have it, but have seen it demonstrated at a show and it's quite impressive, retailing at around $20

Astropad | Turn your iPad into a drawing tablet

It works perfect. the full version is a couple of buck each month. But you are still connected to a computer. But they do a really good job. Don't compare is with Duet, because Duet has poor image quality.

did you download the trial then? I hadn't noticed there was a subscription version with a lot of extra features.

Apologies for hijacking this thread - but I felt it might be relevant:

So the latest announcement for the new 10" iPad Pro hits my inbox and where they advertise the new Pencil they use this image (attached).

It looks like photoshop...but I couldn't be sure.

So I contacted support via my Creative Cloud account and the moderator there said "that looks like Photoshop" to which I replied...Great!  But that's new then because afaik you can't run Photoshop on an IPad Pro...

...the Moderator paused (read: spoke to their line manager) then came back saying "...please go to the Forums to discuss any mobile issues you might have..."

Does this mean the new 10" will be running OSX or a version that allows or have the good folks at Apple just screwed up and comped an image for their ad that could be considered false advertising?

i'd love to know - Photoshop Sketch and Illustrator are dire on the Pro (Currently).

It isn't photoshop. It looks like a kind of illustration app. And no you can't run OS X. But you can use astropad and use your iPad like a Wacom cintique.

Beggars the question then:  "what app is it?"

The Surface Pro has shown you can have a portable "real" computer/tablet that runs most pro apps. To be fair the MacBook (new) is lighter than the Surface Pro with keyboard cover and works very well. The missing "holy grail" is a touch screen Mac. It's been suggested that Apple would never do that because right now they can sell both an iPad and a Mac to a keen customer, and a touch screen Mac would mean they sold only one product. I think the "Pro" in the name of the "iPad Pro" fools a lot of people. Are there any actual Pro apps in use on the thing?

Just to add: The line of mobile apps are meant to supplement rather than replace what the Creative Cloud desktop apps provide. (e.g., Capture CC's (rather wonderful) tools like creating patterns from images or creating looks for use in the CC desktop apps.)

This may or may not be a moot point in a few years since it's all converging. You can use a Surface Pro like a desktop PC at home and bring it on the go, for example, and have the full suite of CC desktop apps at your disposal.

Can you use a MacBook Pro - sync files within Lightroom and then use a Surface Pro with a full version of Photoshop with the same files??

For...Lightroom CC? Sure. Lightroom Classic CC (the other version of Lightroom) isn't so clear-cut since it uses a local catalog (if I recall; someone correct me if that's not totally true).
