In the desktop version of Photoshop I thought we were able to select an area in an image using the marquee tool then under the Image menu select Crop and the image would be cropped to that size. Even using the circle marquee to make a selection the image would be cropped to a rectangle the size of the circle.
Trying this in Photoshop 22.2 and 25.0 on macOS though - after making a selection with the marquee tool the Crop option is still selectable under the Image menu, but nothing happens when selecting it. The image remains the same size.
Was that feature removed or maybe there's another way to do that now?

@danpoynor it's working fine for me with Photoshop version 25.1 on Windows 10, have you tried manually resetting your Photoshop preferences

Remember to backup your settings before doing the preference reset

Thanks - just tried that. Still getting same result.
Screen recording attached showing what's happening in case it helps if anyone has any other ideas.
