Hey guys, I downloaded CS4 for my mac, however the free trial has just ended. I was just wondering if anyone knows how/where I can buy a serial number

CS4 was discontinued many years ago. The version you have been using is designed for existing owners who for some reason have lost their source media but already have a serial number. These days most Adobe products are available on subscription only, rather like Netflix or Amazon Prime where you pay monthly for access. Photoshop CS6 is available for purchase in certain parts of the world but does not enjoy any product development or Adobe technical support-it is also extremely expensive for a 5 year old discontinued product. If you want an up to date image editor for outright purchase from Adobe your only realistic option is Photoshop Elements, which is Photoshop's baby brother-good, but not as powerful as it's sibling.

But I suspect it as powerful (if not more) as Photoshop CS4. Don't you think so?

your probably right about that. Most people who are looking for a nice tool to enhance their photographs will not be disappointed with Elements. The only reason I said it was not as powerful is it lacks some of the really high end professional features such as LAB color and the ability to make CMYK color separations for commercial printing. On the other hand Elements has wizards and more hand holding for beginners.
