CS6 saves to jpg2000 by default

Hello guys,

recently CS6 wont save to JPG by default, but to JPEG2000. How can I change it back?

There has been a change in the latest edition of Photoshop due to an Apple change. The Windows version has been changed too to keep to keep them both consistent. When you save a layered PSD file to a single layered format like JPG and Photoshop PDF you have to use Save a Copy.

Im having a simlar issue.. I need to be able to save as a jpg in order to submit to my stock sites.. They do not support Jpf... Sooooo fustrated.

Have you tried: File > Save a Copy  The jpg option should be there.

Just File > Save As your image and from the Format drop-down menu select JPG (or Photoshop if you want a PSD file). It's sticky.

Thanks for your answer. Unfortunately the selection ist not sticky. I have tried 3 times (with NEF and JPG). CS6 always wants to save in JPEG2000 first.

Maybe you have an application corruption. In recent versions you can reset your Photoshop preferences under the General tab in Photoshop preferences. Not sure if that's available in CS6. If not try this: Close Photoshop, then hold down Ctrl + Alt + Shift (Windows) or Cmd + Ctrl + Opt + Shift (Mac), and relaunch Photoshop. Respond in the affirmative to the dialog asking if you really want to replace the preferences.
