Question

CTRL + D not working in PhotoShop or InDesign

So for some reason CTRL + D has stopped working in Photoshop and InDesign. All other keyboard shortcuts work fine. My colleague is also having the same trouble!

I did change the keyboard shortcut on photoshop from CTRL + D to CTRL + SHIFT + M (the only shortcut I could find not in usehaha) and the deselect option worked. So im guessing it has something to do with the letter D!?  But not sure what i neeed to do to fix it, and if it's a bug that needs sorting as my colleague is having same issue.

Please help if you're having this issue too and have fixed it!!

We've seen Microsoft Office hijack shortcuts after opening. Try restarting then running Photoshop and InDesign only and see if the shortcuts work. Then open Excel or Word and then try your shortcuts again.

This isn't a new issue.

You mean the default shortcut for Select > Deselect?

Might some other application or the OS have highjacked the shortcut?

An update of Photoshop or the OS/some plugin/…?

Is the correct shortcut listed for the menu item under Edit > Keyboard Shortcut?

yeah so on the keyboard shortcut it does still say CTRL + D is deselect but doesn't work on Photoshop. However, on inDesign, i changed the CTRL + D shortcut to place an image .. to a different keyboard shortcut of like CTRL + SHIFT  M something like that.. and it worked. So it's clearly something to with the D!?!

What have you done for all-purpose trouble-shooting so far?
Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
