CTRL + V option no longer working in Photoshop CS3

Hello. I am working on Windows 10 desktop and Photoshop CS3 for years. Never had a problem. Recently the CTRL+ V command has completely stopped working when I try to paste a screenshot (image from a website or other items) into photoshop. The 'File paste" option among other options is also greyed out. Please help. Thank you!

What happens if you copy an already open image in Photoshop CS3 and then try to paste into another open image?

Whatever you do, don't a tempted to reinstall Photoshop CS3, since Adobe has shutdown the activation servers for

CS, CS2 and CS3 and you'll never be able to activate Photoshop CS3.

If you want to try a Photoshop CS3 preferences reset as suggested by kglad:

    1. just after starting Photoshop CS3 hold down the Ctrl+Alt+Shift keys

(you have to be quick about pressing the keys just after starting the launch of Photoshop CS3

or you won't get the following dialog)

    2. Keep holding down the keys until you see a dialog asking

Delete the Adobe Photoshop Settings file?

    3. click Yes

in the future, to find the best place to post your message, use the list here, https://community.adobe.com/

p.s. i don't think the adobe website, and forums in particular, are easy to navigate, so don't spend a lot of time searching that forum list. do your best and we'll move the post (like this one has already been moved) if it helps you get responses.
