Can i create a Selction tool with custom form in photoshop??? I want to make a low poly background image from a photo. I usually make a selection and then the average filter. But I don't want to do it with the simple triangle form anymore, but with my own custom form.

That is the answer I was looking for. Thank you. But I still have a problem, if you make the quick selection with q everything outside the range is selected. Is there a way that it will automatically reverse the selection immediately? So my pattern is selected and, not everything except my pattern.

Ctrl+I immediately after? You could setup an action...

Hello, there's the polygonal lasso tool that could help you draw some simple shapes.

The old shapes are still available in the shapes panel, if you load legacy shapes in the contextual. It is possible to convert them to a selection by a cmd/ctrl+click on their layer thumbnail, even if the shape layer is not visible (the eye is unchecked).

It is possible to save selections in the channels panel, a CTRL+click loads them immediately, or you can use their assigned shortcut.

Please describe in more detail what you are trying to achieve.

Is the custom shape to be scaled or always the same size etc.?

You could use the custom Shape Tool (set to »Path«) and then create a Selection off of the Path.

Thank you for the Answer.

But, i know that shapes can also be converted into a selection, but that doesn't happen very quickly. Is there a way to quickly make a selection that has a certain complex shape (e.g. flower ore star), for example I can easily cut out a square or a circle, but no other shape. In "SHAPES" ore "BRUSH", i can quickly create my own individual shapes. Is this also possible with a selection tool?

Hello, if you have a brush that you'd like to use as a selection, you can also use quickmask (hit the letter Q) to paint your selection (a single paint dab will apply your selection.
