Custom settings not saving

I wonder if someone can help me with my photoshop not saving its cutsom settings. From brushes, to gradients, to all the custom settings for all the panels on the side of photoshop. Every time I simply close my photoshop, my settings are all back to the default, and I have no idea how to change it so everything doesn't get lost upon closing. I do upload all my burshes ect the correct way and yet once I exit photoshop, they are all lost again and I have to do the whole thing over. The same for all my settings on my panels. Am I missing a setting? or overlooking something which enables you to keep your custom settings? Its getting frustrating to have to activate all my settings again when I reopen photoshop the next day.

Hi

The most common reason is a permissions issue. Check to see if you have permissions to save to the Presets folder on your computer. On a Mac it's

User > Library > App Support > Adobe > PS [version] > Presets

I have a pc. Do you know the steps to check on that? I recently updated and the problems started then. I also have had trouble with it just shutting down randomly ever since the update. It did it five times tonight! I posted on here a couple of weeks ago but got no help. Thanks.

I am having the same problem that you are.  I have to redo my entire preset manager everytime I restart Photoshop.  (Plus, I have been having trouble with it crashing unexpectedly without reason lately which makes it worse.)  I just found a "lock workspace" button so I am going to try that and see if it works.  That is about the only thing I could find close to saving my workspace.  Have you found anything that has worked yet?

Hey, there I'm not sure, I've seen it mentioned when I googled for a solution, but there is no save workspace option in my drop down menu as some of the other websites suggested.
