Question

custom toolbar in photoshop?

Hi,

I'm running PS 20.0.5 on Windows 10 pro, 64 bit versions of both.

Is CEP and going through all of the javascript etc. the only way to make a custom toolbar or even panel?  It looks like the configurator app no longer works on windows 10, even when run as an administrator.

I've got so much space on the default toolbar, I'd love to be able to drag a button for a filter to the toolbar.  I know I can re-run the last filter, but that reruns it with the last settings, so doesn't work when I  want to tweak them.

I'd like to be able to just drag items from the menu to a toolbar, things like filters (3rd party too) adjustments, actions, etc.  So many other programs let you do this easily, I'm surprised that in 2020 it isn't available in PS.

The only post I found on this had only 1 reply, pointing to the "Welcome to Photoshop" page.  I don't know if that was ironic or what. 🙂

thanks,

bob

Oh, and the topics I can pick from when posting this aren't very helpful. 🙂

If you want to search the forum use Google Search not this site search....

Photoshop Extension Custom Toolbar

To me I seem to remember each version of Photoshop had its own configurator they were not compatible between versions Adobe configurator

Configurator has been dead for 5 or 6 years.  At least acccording to this post https://community.adobe.com/t5/labs/adobe-configurator-and-deprecated-flash-based-panel-support-in-adobe-cc-products/td-p/5459043.  See the responses from the adobe employee.  I looked at the Extension Builder 3 link, but the page looks ancient, like a pre-2000 web page and was last updated in 2014.  The fact that they want you to install Eclipse means it is overkill and PS simply lacks the functionality.  Better stop before I get all ranty. 🙂

THere's a third part app, Configurator Reloaded or something like that, but the price is around $60.  It's a great deal if you are a professional, but a little high for someone who just wants to put a few filters and actions as buttons on a toolbar.

An observation: all posts more than a few years old were recently lost, so what you probably found was an old post where the answer was lost.
