Question

Cut and paste images from Illustrator to Photoshop not keeping Ratio and Resolution

Hi I have recently upgraded from CS6 to to CC 2018. When copying and pasting high-Res images from Illustrator to Photoshop, when I create a new document in Photoshop to paste the image the clipboard does not paste the image in holding the original image size (ratio) or resolution, meaning that I have to crop and re-res an image to the original dimensions to try to place back into Illustrator!

This still works perfectly when I use CS6 but when I use the same setting from CS6 and put them into CC2018 the issue still persists, Any help on this would be appreciated.

Thanks

sean

I'm not clear on exactly what you are trying to do - are you copying and pasting photos from Illustrator to PS? Can you post screenshots?

Sounds like you have recently upgraded from CS6 - have you used libraries yet? You can drop your image into a library and then pull it from the library in PS... best thing ever. I don't copy and paste anymore.

Hi Melissa, yes you are correct. I'm copying and pasting images from Illustrator to Photoshop. Previously when I did this process photoshop would paste the image into a pasteboard that held the dimension/resolution etc from the original image.

Now when I try to do this process when I create a new document in PS to paste the image into in CC2018 in now doesn't hold the image dimension or resolution, meaning I have to know these before pasting the image into CC2018.

See the attached screenshots, the first image is the correct dimensions held while pasting into CS6 while the second image is the size when pasting into CC2018.

Thanks

Sean

Gotcha... try using libraries - you will love them. Drag and drop your image into a library. If the image is pixel based, when you double click on it it should open in Photoshop at the right size.
