Dead pixels when brushing in mask layer

Hi,

When I'm brushing away in my mask layer there are a couple of "dead" pixels. Or well pixels that are not removable with the brush tool. When I try to "erase" these pixels in the original image the pixels dissapear. So it's nog a problem with my screen, it seems to be an issue in the mask layer.

I tried googling it but it seems to be an impossable search term.  Hopefully someone can help me fix this problem.

This is a new problem, that i've only noticed today so far.

Hi thank you both for answering.

It was not the selection, and the layer was uniform.

The blending mode was on normal but for some reason my brush had some weird setting on itself. By reselecting the standard brush again it seems to be working again.

There are four tools that share space in the Tools panel and use the "B" shortcut. It sounds like you may have accidentally switched?

  • Brush tool
  • Pencil tool
  • Color Replacement tool
  • Mixer Brush tool

I'm glad it's working for you now!

Hi @xmarloesx

There are two thoughts that come to mind:

  • We can see you have a selection, but cannot see what is selected. When there is a selection, you can only work inside of it. What happens if you deselect?
  • Look in the options bar for the brush tool. What is the blending mode? Set it to Normal if it is something else.

Share a screenshot of your entire workspace if these do not work.

Hi, can you post a view of the layer mask at the same magnification?

I think that the layer mask is not uniform. What happens if you hit delete several times once you have that selection?
