Default Save Preferences

I just installed Photoshop CC on a new computer and am trying to change the default "Save" / "Save As" from .tiff to .psd, so that when I hit Ctrl-S, it automatically saves to .psd. I did this on my old computer, but can not find the selection in Preferences that allows me to do it now.

I don't use .tiff files, so any help in changing this preference is appreciated!

    What version of Photoshop CC?

Thanks for all the help, but I was asking you for something that isn't there. The preference I was looking for is in Lightroom, not Photoshop. If you open in PS from LR in .psd, then it will save as .psd automatically.

    Thanks all!

Save (Ctrl+S) will save in the same format as the document was opened.

Save As (Ctrl+Shift +S) will give you the choice.

I don't know of any preference to override that behaviour

Thanks, Davescm, but that isn't my question. When I open a RAW file in PS, work on it, then save (Ctrl-S), it saves as a .tif file. I want it to automatically save as .psd. I was able to set this as a preference, but since installing on a new computer, I don't see an option to save (Ctrl-S) in any other format.

I know I can Save As and select the format, but I would have to do that on the initial save of every image.

Which ever one you last used should aut be the default. At least for Save As. All you need to do is Ctrl + S and Enter.
