Dialog box not appearing when selecting Define Custom Shape

Hi folks!

I am trying to save a custom shape that I created using the pen tool.  When I right-click and select Define Custom Shape, the dialog box does not appear.  The path is selected in the Paths tab and I'm on a new blank layer.  The odd thing is that I was able to create and save a new shape earlier while in the same PSD during the same session.

Here's my homework:

  • Deleted a bunch of custom shapes that I've created over the years.  Restarted PS.  Tried again, didn't work.
  • Reset my preferences.  Restarted PS.  Tried again, didn't work.
  • Searched for a solution on here, read this article, but none of the solutions worked for me.

I'm on Windows 10 with 16GB RAM, plenty of drive space and using the latest PS 2020.

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks,

Bob

Correct answer r-bin
If your path is all in Subtract mode, it will not work.

CC21.1 is silent, CS6 issues - program error.

Adobe broke things in the 21.1 update  one major problem for Wacom users was Adobe Broke WinTab support in that update as well as actions the user save as. So many of us have reinstalled  21.0.3.  All I can write is on Window 10  Define Custom Shape works fine in Photoshop 21.0.3 I can not state that it does in 21.1.0 for I doe not user 21.1.0
