Does Photoshop have a pref that lets me disable panning via my mouse's touch surface?

(Does Illustrator?)

Hey @gregmaletic

That is a great question! Try

  • Go to Preferences > Tools

  • Uncheck: Overscroll
This prevents the canvas from moving freely when zoomed in to fit the screen

Let me know if this helps!

Greg, you can use the search function within Photoshop's Settings.../Preferences to look for "mouse." Mouse does not occur.

MacOs System Settings>Accessibility>Zoom>Advanced>Disable Panning *might* be what you're after, but next to the slider toggle is the word "none" (whatever that means). No hover hint. Try it out, report back! 😉

Can't help you with Illustrator, sorry. But -- since it's a system setting, it could help in other Adobe apps.
