Disappearing Curve Handles on Photoshop Paths - Help!

I've already seen many blogs and forums discussing, "how to reveal your path once it has disappeared." This is NOT that question!

Allow me to describe this problem:

I am creating a new PATH using the PEN tool in PS.

Then, I use the PEN + tool to add curve points or HANDLES.

Then, I click outside of the path (heaven forbid) and I am left with a naked blue line. The basic path.

Now, should I ever need to adjust or add another curve using the PEN+, then it becomes a guessing game!

This has been an ongoing frustration for me!

Should I blindly click "here" and risk making a curve handle right next to another --- and risk having to delete unwanted handles?

How do I make the HANDLES reappear so that I may resume adjusting my curve points? In basic terms, am talking about the blue dots along the blue line. If you have a more specific/correct term for this, let me know.

Again, COMMAND-H is NOT the solution. COMMAND-H reveals the aforementioned naked blue line. I need the DOTS to reappear.

Please advise!!!

There are different types of control points. Some have no handle some one handle some two handles in a straight line and other with two handles that are not in a straight line are angled form one and other.  Control point can be edited and converted between types.  The is a convert tool ant there are modifier keys you can use with the pen tool.  The pen tool also has options and there are several pen tools.

You can do to your Path Panel and click on the path itself and it will be highlighted. Then to adjust an individual point, use the direct selection or white arrow tool to fine tune your path. If the path is still selected, you can just go directly to the direct selection tool.

Additionally, Option-Clicking on the paths thumbnail will select the path and select all of its control points.

Usually option-clicking is the same as alt-clicking on Win. That doesn't work. Ctrl-clicking with the pen tool activates the direct selection tools, so the handles can be seen and selected.
