I have searched google and cannot find an answer on how to fix my photoshop issue. I hae always been able to import my images from Lightroom into Photshop and today when I tried I got a message saying "Could not open (file number).CR3 becasue of a disk error".

Searching online someone metioned clearing cache by going in PS into Edit> Preferences> ... but there's not Preerences choice in my Edit menu. Has anyone had this isue and corrected it? I also tried the suggestion of restarting. my computer and PS but that did't work. Thank you.

"but there's not Preerences choice in my Edit menu."

Hi

If you are using Windows, you will find Preferences at the bottom of the Edit menu. On a Mac it's near the top of the Photoshop menu. Once in Preferences, go to General > Reset Preference on Quit.

Thanks for trying. I did that and it didn’t work and now my PS screen look mostly black as a background and totally different so I hope it didn’t make changes I didn’t want.
