displace seems to ignore the map

I occasionally used the displace filter before, and it worked, but now it's not doing anything, just shifts the whole picture up and left. I attached some screenshots to further illustrate my problem.

I tried uninstalling and reinstalling the latest version (22.3.1.) = still not working. 
Downgraded to 21.2.7. = working as intended.
So the problem is with the update and not me. I'd love to see it fixed, so i don't need to migrate all my actions and plugins and keyboard bindings to an older version.

That conclusion is not meaningful so far. 

What have you done for trouble-shooting so far? 

Restoring Preferences after making sure all customized presets like Actions, Patterns, Brushes etc. have been saved might be a good starting point:
