Docked Panels disappear when images are brought in from Finder on macOS.

New Here ,
Mar 31, 2022 Mar 31, 2022

Double clicking on an image from a Finder window to bring it into Photoshop causes all my GUI content inside the main Photoshop window to disappear. Panels as well as the horizontal 'Options bar'.

I have some other panels moved left outside of the Photoshop main GUI window. These panels remain visible. Tabbing do not bring the disappeard panels to come back. The only way to bring them back is to CMND+tab to another app and then CMND+tabbing back to Photoshop. Using the dock to switch apps also works.

This happens 100% of the time.

My specs are 14" M1 MBP running macOS Monteray 12.0.1 with Photoshop 23.2.2. And a 16" Intel MBP running macOS Monteray 12.3 with Photoshop 23.2.2. This bug occurs on both systems.

Hi. Have you tried resetting the preferences? https://helpx.adobe.com/photoshop/using/preferences.html#reset_preferences

@DanGT

Before resetting preferences, try this:

When I see this, it is usually a floating document window that is sized too large and is covering other panels. There are two ways to fix it:

  • Window menu > Arrange > Consolidate
  • Manually resize the document window smaller by dragging any edge, then move it by dragging the title bar. To Dock it, drag the title bar until you see a blue horizontal line that indicates the Drop Zone.

Show a screen shot if this isn't it and you need more help.

Also, Apple released Monterey 12.3.1 yesterday with several bug fixes. You said you are on 12.0.1.

Jane
