When I add text to a document, or modify it, usually a dotted-line box appears around the text, and I can manipulate the size, etc. But sometimes there is no box, so there is no way to change the size or shape of the box. Right now I'm working on a document where the boxes appear around some of the text, but not all of them -- and of course it's the ones without the boxes that I want to edit. As far as I can tell, it doesn't seem to have to do with the font itself.
Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!
I think you are seeing the difference between Point Text and Paragraph Text.
With the type tool selected, if you just click on the page you will get Point Text. However, if you click and drag out a box you will get Paragraph Text.
If you've already created your text, you can convert it to the other kind by right mouse clicking on the layer (not the layer thumbnail), and choosing Convert to Point Text or Convert to Paragraph Text.

Thank you, Michael! That answered my question.
Such an easy solution! It's hard to keep up on all the nuances of these programs!

Yes -- and I no longer use them often enough to keep up! Times and priorities change. I would probably do myself a favor by taking beginner's course!

Thank you, I had the same question! It seems that when I create a text layer in Photoshop, the layer is Paragraph by default. But if I open the document in Fresco, text layers are created as Point by default.
