Double Clicking with Tools & Dragging in JPEG's

Hello All,

I have had an issue lately and it has been driving me crazy enough to not even want to work on my projects. Let me first say that I am completely up to date on my Photoshop, Lightroom, and Adobe Camera Raw.

Issue 1: With almost every one of the tools I am having to double click in order for it to actually do it's function. For instance, with the magic wand tool I have to double click a color before it will select it. I then have to hit delete on my keyboard twice before it will actually delete the selection. I don't know what caused this or if this is by design now. When creating a new document I even have to double click the create button before it will open the blank canvas.

Issue 2: Normally when I want to bring an image into the software, I will minimize Photoshop and just drag and drop the image onto my canvas. It will then have the option to place. When I do this, the first time nothing comes in. The second time, I see the image, but when I hit the selector tool it will say do you want to place the image to which I answer yes. Then the image disappears and my canvas remains blank (or has only what I had previously). Sometimes, the only way I can get an image into Photoshop is to go to File > Open, which isn't always what I want to do if working with an existing document.

Any feedback would be helpful.

    Correct answer Sir Smith

In this scenario, it requires a clean install of Photoshop and by that, I mean the removal of every Adobe file from the system and then reinstall the software. You can check this link on how to do a clean install Use the Creative Cloud Cleaner Tool to solve installation problems

Using the cleanup utility by it's self didn't work. Once I reinstalled the program the same issue occurred. I then used it again, then went and found the registry keys and deleted all of those as well. Then once it was reinstalled it worked.

    Hi Sir Smith,

As I can see you are not able to use Photoshop properly due to multiple issues I would suggest you reset the preferences of Photoshop.

To restore preferences quickly using a keyboard shortcut: Press and hold Alt+Control+Shift (Windows) or Option+Command+Shift (Mac OS) as you startPhotoshop. You are prompted to delete the current settings. The new preferences files are created the next time you start Photoshop.

    Regards,

    Sahil

I have already done this yesterday and this didn't fix the issue.
