Hi,
I have downloaded a template with several layouts, I have selected one, and then linked photos etc.. no problem.
My question is how do I save just the one layout?
When I "save as jpg" it sizes the image for all 5 template layouts?
What am I missing?
Thanks

Could you please post a screenshot with the pertinent Panels (Layers, Channels, Options Bar, …) visible?

It is hard to answer your question without seeing the template, but you may need to crop first around the area you want

Hi Barry,
If the template is from Adobe Stock, can you post the number?
And does the template use Artboards? Can you check your Layers panel to see what is visible? Post a screen shot if you are not sure.

Thanks every one, it bugged me this morning...
I can save as jpg, then open the jpg and crop, so the end result is OK just a bit long winded...
I now think I have worked it out... as Cropping did not work... I deleted all unwanted template layout layers first?
Just left the one I wanted to work on.
I also opened up the template again, and hey presto, all the layers are still there from the .psdt file, so is not lost.
I just needed another coffee, I guess!
also I had to do some self teaching, trial and error.
Searching the forum several said a template manual or user instructions were hard to find and not included in template file.
Thanks again, hope this helps others in the future.

Its simple to control what is visible with the eye icons in front of the layer groups.

visibility was not my problem...hiding layers etc
however even with them hidden, saving as jpg set image dimensions to cover all layers.!

The problem is each smart object layer in each layer group needs to be either be replaced using Replace Content with an exactly same size object or the object opened and edited manualy so you can handle miss matches in size, aspect ratio and resolution. Replace Content is like using Place. Place does some resizing based on object print resolution. While the Layer content will have the same print resolution as the template the object may have a different Print Resolution and Place will resize the object based one the different Print resolution. So the replacement object must have exactly the same aspect ration, the same width and height at the same print resolution as the object in the template. Otherwise the Smart object layer will be a different size and the transform associate with the smart object layer will not work corrected for the transform is not replace or altered with replace content..
My script can do what is required for templates with a single collage. Templates with more than one layout would require a custom script for each layout in the template IMO it not a viable solution. When you consider how easy it is to create a single layout template. A single template like this layout would require a background layer and 5 alpha channel.]

The Templates like that I saw where from Adobe. Each collage layout was in a separate Layer Group. So you can control which Layout is visible using the Viability control of the groups groups. With one Group visible you save out the populated collage into an Image file. That kind of template used manually and you normally open smart Object layers to edit their content to populate a layout. The template would be very hard to Automat it population. If you want to Populate Templates and Mockup look at my Photoshop Photo Collage and Mockup Toolkit. I added mockup support not long ago. Templaye only have a single layout so the can be populate easily via a Photoshop Scripts. The script are part og the toolkit.
Photo Collage and Mockup Toolkit
Photoshop scripting is powerful and I believe this package demonstrates this. Here is a video showing a 5 image collage PSD template being populated with images
The package includes four simple rules to follow when making Photo Collage Template PSD files so they will be compatible with my Photoshop scripts.
There are eighteen scripts in this package they provide the following functions:
Mockup Support Added
I created my Photoshop Photo Collage Toolkit nine years ago and Avoided supporting Templates that used Smart Object layers to warp, to add perspective, to rotate, add any distortion to images. Because replacement Image file needed to have exactly the same Aspect Ratio, Size and Print resolution as the Object in the Template's smart object layers object. Lately there have been some threads in Adobe Photoshop scripting forums dealing with updating/populating products Mockups Templates that have prototype smart object layers that need to be updated to create the output mockup files. These were good threads and prompted me to do some thinking.
So like my Photo Collage Template design has four simple rules. I came up with four simple rules for Mockup templates. I find that I can easily modify Photo Collage Templates and Mockup Template files I download from the web so they comply with my Photo Collage Template rules or my Simple Mockup Template rules. Mockup templates may be far from simple the only simple part is they are easy to update. So I have add support to my Photo Collage Toolkit to support Mockup templates.
