Dragging a layer turns the background white

I have encountered an issue in the latest version of Photoshop where dragging a layer results in the specific area I'm moving it to turning white, as depicted in the attached image. It is important to clarify that it is not the entire screen that turns white, but rather only the region affected by the layer movement.

Additionally, I have learned that this problem is not unique to my workstation, as several colleagues in the office are also experiencing this issue, despite utilizing different PC setups.

I would greatly appreciate any assistance from professional individuals who may possess a solution to this problem or have information regarding an upcoming update that will address this specific issue.

Hi @Webvalue2 first make sure you are on Photoshop 24.5. Then check for graphics card driver updates.

If neither resolve, go to Photoshop Preferences/Technology Preview and check “Disable Native Canvas”. Then check “Use Older GPU Mode (2016)”. Quit and relaunch PS.

Hi Kevin,

Thank you for your prompt response. I would like to provide additional information. The problem seems to occur intermittently, varying on a daily basis or depending on the type of project I am working on (I'm not entirely sure of the exact cause). Although a simple restart of Photoshop typically resolves the issue, I am seeking a permanent solution.

To reiterate, I am currently using the latest version of Photoshop, and there are no pending driver updates. I will try your suggested solution the next time the problem arises. Since today, I have not encountered the issue.

Thanks!

Just to add to this thread: This solution (check "disable native canvas") also solved the following problem in PS 24.7 on a Mac Mini Pro (Ventura):

When I had multiple files open (floating windows) the windows turned white when I clicked on them to change the active window. When clicking in the layer palette or moving the windows the content re- appeared.  This bug was not intermittent but did not occur when the rulers were activated.

Glad I found this thread with a fix, thanks a bunch!

Solved the issue. There's just a new problem where the edges of vectors are jugged in pixels.

I've found changing the colour from 8bit to 16bit fixes this
