Hi
I'm having trouble with Photoshop CS6 in Mavericks. After a working a little while, all pop up/drop down menus goes blank. They still work, but I can't see what's on them. Even the Apple menu bar is afflicted by this, though only when Photoshop is in the front.
Any help is appreciated. Thanks. PS: I do use a cintiq on a 2012 Macbook Pro 15" with retina display.
It looks like the plug-in fails to initialize on certain Photoshop installations. This should be fixed in:
http://www.bache.name/download/osx/WhiteWindowWorkaround.plugin1_0_5.zip
If the plug-in is properly installed, then you should see something similar to the following in the OSX console after launching Photoshop:
Adobe Photoshop CC[14728]: WhiteWindowWorkaround Initialized
You can see the OSX console by going to āUtilitiesā from Finder, and then running the Console application.

I'm ok with you moderating my last comment to remove my question about timing on a hotfix and my suggestion that you increase the quality of your customer support and devote more resources to fixing bugs. I know you saw it, Jesper, and that's good enough for me. My 40 photoshop users and I will be waiting for your solution over in "silent majority" land.

I have a Bamboo One. On of the first to ship. The pen is pretty basic, no grip, two buttons.

Just got the blank menu. The last moves I made were create new layer, fill tool on background layer then select all using cmd+A on new layer. After that I could tell the blank menu had occurred as the top part of the file goes blank. This has happened nearly everytime I make these moves (but not all the time). Have gotten used to saveing before I do these steps now. Hope this helps to reproducing the blank menus.

I have just received the blank menus again after days without the issue. I have an Inutous Pro connected. In any case these issues arose WITHOUT TOUCHING the dodge and burn tools. It occurred when using the spot healing brush this time on a layer set to Linear Light. I knew the issue had occurred when once again the opacity slider was replaced with the sponge tool icon. Unfortunately this time the error resulted in me having to start the entire project over.
In all seriousness this issue and the timeframe it is taking to address is a pain in the ***. With the error occurring so randomly this is surely affecting many with their workflow.

Yes I agree, its about time we get som status update from Adobe and Wacom. The "we are working on it" can only be an excuse for so long. Though I do really think this is all Wacoms fault, they havenĀ“t released a single update to the driver since Mavericks was released and all the way until about a week ago they claimed their drivers were perfectly fine. What worries me as well is that I havenĀ“t read a single line from Wacom looking into the other bugs other than the white menus. I have not heard a word about the keyboard not responding nor the Polygonal Lasso tool auto completing. Even if the white menus will get fixed I can never upgrade to Mavericks as long as the other two bugs exists - they are even claiming they canĀ“t reproduce these faults, even if they are probably on every computer that has a Wacom tablet in Mavericks while using Photoshop.
Adobe, you should really start riding Wacom hard on these, or find the bugs yourself!! Photoshop for any Mavericks is barely usable in its current state.

I can also say that i'm encountering the polygonal lasso sticking. This also happens to me when using other tools, such as the clone stamp or healing brush where the black line that forms initially will also stick at certain points before the tool finishes the action

Were you unable to read the updates from Jan 8 for some reason?

which update? in these forums...sorry about that. I guess I should have removed my first line.
Still though, my post was mostly aimed at wacom because IĀ“ve gotten no confirmation from them (or from adobe for that matter) that the polygonal lasso problem or the keyboard lag is being looked into. Only the white menus. And, to me that makes Photoshop as unusable. Only answer I got from wacom was a link to a more than 2 year old thread in these forums about the polygonal lasso tool being problematic, which couldnĀ“t be connected to this current Mavericks bug at all. Sorry, but that sort of answer just makes customers frustrated.

Like ThePixelDoc's post at Wacom, perhaps we should be posting there as well.

Hi all glad to see there is at least some awareness and progress. I am using Intuos 4 with the grip pen, photoshop CS6 and Mavericks and have seen all issues fairly regularly (the blank menus maybe once or twice a day at most, but polygonal lasso works correctly only about 2/10 attempts and shortcut keys will stick as well very often). If its useful.. my two coworkers who are also on Mavericks with CS6 do NOT use tablets, and they have never seen any of these things happen.

It's good to hear you've been able to reproduce it! I can say for sure that all of our tablets only have the Wacom Grip Pen (the one that comes with the tablets by default), so I can't imagine it being related to the Art pen.
However, I noticed that sometimes the issue happens often during a day, and almost never on other days. For example, it's quite possible that the issue does not happen over the course of a week, at all, and then suddenly one day it happens 10 times or more. Even though I can't think of anything that I'm doing differently (what I do is quite monotonous and always the same).
So it's possible that we may think that the issue is fixed due to one thing, while it's merely just having one of those days where it doesn't happen for no reason...

Well. A friend of mine has bought a used MacBook Pro 13" (late 2011) and asked me to install some software, set up the internet connection and the things like that. She leave the laptop at my home and went for a business trip. I cleaned up and formatted the HDD. So I downloaded a trial version of Photoshop CC, connected my Wacom Intuos 5, connect my 2-nd 23"monitor Phillips, opened one of my photos in Photoshop and start retouching.
Healing brush was OK;
Liquify was OK;
Brush tool freezed after I chose it immediately and I click Finder Icon in the Dock and then click the PSD document, Brush Tool starts working;
Lasso Tool - half way of the desired selection and...... ta-daammm!!!!! .... Blank Menu Issue
I saved PSD file by cmd+S, quit Photoshop and restarted it. Returned to retouching and in 3 or 5 minutes after Dodge&Burning got Blank Menu Issue.
If it is so difficult for Adobe/Apple/Wacom to reproduce these bugs I can change this laptop to another as a replacement. And support can use it for further investigations

I'm using a simple Wacom Bamboo tablet and right now these white menus keep appearing for me every two minutes when retouching a photo using the dodge/burn tool for example on my new MacBook Retina. I've had this problem for almost two weeks now and can recreate the problem every other minute which makes Photoshop impossible for me to work in right now.
I've also tried working in Photoshop CC with my Wacom Bamboo tablet on my older MacBook Pro from around 2009 and when doing so these white menus are not happening to me.

I reverted back to Mountain Lion within a couple of days of updating to Mavericks because these various issues effected my workflow too greatly. Fortunately, I don't "have" to upgrade to Mavericks - but that isn't a good solution of course. I am waiting "patiently" for this to be fixed...

Hey guys,
Jesper thinks he knows what the problem is and we have a workaround to avoid this issue that we'd like to test before making it more widely available. Let me know if you'd be willing to install a plug-in and test out this workaround. I will email you with details and instructions. Thanks!

I would be happy to test this on some of my workstations.

Glad to hear it. does this fix possibly apply to the polygonal lasso and shortcut key issues as well? If so I would be willing to test - otherwise the blank menus don't happen to me very often so I wouldn't be a good test subject.

Hi Enokeson, We're still working on tracking down where in the stack the Lasso tool and Shortcut issue happens. This workaround is only for the menus/windows showing up blank.

I have been testing since this morning and havent had a white menu yet. This has been unheard of since installing Mavericks. I think Jesper nailed it.

Great news!! If possible I would like to try the workaround as well since I was having so many issues last night.
