Question

Duplicate Layers

In this new version of PS when I drag a layer, which I have converted into a smart object, across onto a plain white document it drags two layers across one on top of the other. The second layer is not immediately visible until you drag the top layer around. It is so annoying. It never did this in the previous version and has messed my workflow up completely. Very annoyed.

The same thing is happening to me after the newest update. It seems to be a bug. I had to uninstall the latest update because it was very disruptive.

EDIT: Found a solution https://community.adobe.com/t5/photoshop/why-are-layers-quot-sticking-quot-to-the-background-in-the-new-photoshop-21-2-0/td-p/11224683?page=1

That does not happen on my Windows 10 version 2004 with Photoshop version 21.2.  Can you provide more information about your environment? It may have something to do with your OS, hardware and device drivers then it does with Photoshop.

Thanks for your response. It did actually happen on my PC. After reading some more posts I found some one else with the same problem. Apparenly, you have to uncheck a tick box in preferences to disable legacy composting. Once I had done that the problem disappeared. So, nothing to do with my PC or hardware just another Adobe glitch.
